Sunday School (2-14 year olds)
Children are a great blessing to our church! We want them to be in worship with us, as we gather as a community to lift our praise to God. But we also realize that children need their own special time to learn about stories in the Bible, about what it means to be a Christian and how to be a follower of Christ.
Every Sunday children gather with their families for worship. About 15 minutes into worship, the children are invited to come forward for a “Time with the Children”. After this brief talk, children are invited to leave for Sunday School.
All children gather together for a time of singing, then are divided in classes for 2 and 3 year olds, 4 - 5 year olds, First and Second grade, Third and Fourth grade, Fifth and Sixth grade, Seventh and Eighth grade (every other month). Each class has a volunteer teacher, and the younger two classes also each have a helper.
The classes spend time examining the Bible story for the day, exploring it at different levels (often through artistic expression or other activities) and connecting it to their lives today. These classes are full of energy and excitement as the children learn about God’s love for them.
To supplement the children’s spiritual development, they stay in for the entire worship service eight times a year - four times with communion and four other services. During several of those services the children assist in worship leadership, including singing, reading and sharing crafts.
