Session I (10:45 – 11:45a.m)
The Language of Faith: A Way with Words
David Bubb
This course is a basic Christian Theology course that will look at some key words in the language of our faith. For many who are new to the Christian faith, and even for those who grew up in the church, there are times that the language of our faith seems like a foreign language. How would you translate this sentence, for example? “Yahweh” makes a “covenant” with the “redeemed” and enables them to experience “shalom” as they are “justified” and “sanctified.”
Our comfort with and understanding of the Biblical message can be expanded as we become more fluent in the Language of our faith.
Money Matters: Exploring Financial Issues from a
Christian Perspective
Kathi Bubb
“Almost everyone agrees that the Bible contains great advice about life, from improving your marriage to getting along with your boss at work. But does the Bible really say much about money? … Money is mentioned in the Bible over 800 times.” (Dave Ramsey) How we use – and misuse – our finances is a faith issue. As Christians we are called to put money in perspective and learn to manage money more effectively.
Topics in this workshop will include earnings, debt, budgets, credit cards, tithing, savings and more.
Session II (12:00 – 1:00 p.m)
Changing the World: Allowing the God of Justice and
Mercy to Use Us in His Plan!
Elizabeth Cowan, World Vision
You’ve seen it: Poverty, Injustice, Disease, Suffering, War…Is there any hope? YES!!! Seeds of hope are springing up all over the world as God transforms people, communities and systems. We’ll explore some of them in our own lives and share stories of transformation from around the world. We’ll talk more about this God of justice and mercy, and how to get involved in His transformation: first in our own lives and then in the world.
Come ready to learn, share and explore what God wants to do in us and in the world.
Nurturing Faith in Families
Kathi Bubb
With our children have faith? Bringing a child to church every
(or every other) Sunday is not enough. Parents (and grandparents) need to teach and reinforce faith issues in the home - parents are the primary Christian educators of their children! Come and learn some ideas from other parents and grandparents for developing the faith of your children in your own home – bring your own ideas, too!!
Session III (1:45 – 3:00 p.m.)
Singing Our Faith with Psalms
Please check if you plan to attend this time of singing the Psalms, both familiar songs and new ones.
